You know what struck me first about Mateo Gago 13? The location is absolutely killer – and I mean that in the best way possible. You’re literally on one of Seville’s most atmospheric streets, the kind where you can hear flamenco drifting from the bars and the smell of jamón ibérico basically follows you around. It’s this narrow, cobblestone lane that feels like stepping back in time, except you’ve got all the modern comforts waiting for you behind those traditional Andalusian doors.

The thing about staying right in the heart of the old town (and I mean RIGHT in it – you’re basically neighbors with the Cathedral) is that you’re going to hear some street life. Honestly though, it’s part of the charm. The early morning sounds of delivery trucks on cobblestones might wake you up, but then you realize you can literally roll out of bed and be sipping café con leche at one of those tiny local spots within two minutes. And speaking of rolling out of bed – the 4-star rating here isn’t just for show. The rooms have this perfect balance of Sevillian character and actual comfort. Think exposed beams and tile work that feels authentic, not like some chain hotel’s idea of “Spanish décor.”

What really sold me on this place was how the staff actually knows the neighborhood – like, really knows it. They’ll tell you which tapas bars the locals hit up (hint: avoid the tourist traps on the main plaza) and when to visit the Cathedral to dodge the cruise ship crowds. The building itself has that classic Sevillian courtyard feel, and honestly, after walking around the city in 40-degree heat, coming back to those cool, thick walls feels like heaven. Parking is… well, it’s the old town, so you’re not parking right outside. But they’ll sort you out with directions to nearby garages, and honestly, you won’t need a car anyway. Everything worth seeing is either walkable or a quick metro ride away. That 9.1 rating makes total sense when you’re talking about a place that gets both the location and the experience right – it’s not trying to be something it’s not, just a really solid base for exploring one of Spain’s most beautiful cities.

  There was very clear communication and a person met us and showed us in. Way better than a hidden key or door pad. We were able to ask questions.
  
  What could be improved: I wished I hadn't chosen the room overlooking Mateos Gago. It was Very noisy. Very. That's what I get for picking first. LOL. That front bedrroom is only for someone who sleeps like a rock. Also, we were there seven nights. I would've liked to have had two towels per person, at least, instead of just one. But she did stock with extra toilet paper so we wouldn't have to buy any….that was thoughtful.

  La posizione eccellente, tra il barrio santa cruz, la cattedrale e santa catalina: il posto più bello di Siviglia! Poi i 3 bagni, uno in ogni camera, gli arredi e il design, i letti comodissimi: tutto bellissimo. Non alloggerei in nessun altro posto!

  Ubicación genial, para hacer todos los desplazamientos a pie. El apartamento está nuevo y totalmente equipado, no le falta de nada. Terraza increíble. Comunicación con la agencia perfecta.
  
  What could be improved: Hay que subir 2 tramos de escaleras bastante empinadas sin ascensor, puede ser complicado para personas con movilidad reducida. También la calle es algo ruidosa, pero es el precio a pagar por estar en el centro.

  What could be improved: por poner algo negativo la recogida de vidrio de los restaurantes a las 8 de la mañana, y el olor de cocina en la escalera por el local de abajo, ya q tienen una puerta al portal y la tienen abierta además de dejar la del portal atrancada con el felpudo.
