Hotel Description

I’ll be honest – when I first spotted Misterhost San Bernardo Jardines de Murillo tucked away on Rastro, I almost walked right past it. The entrance is sort of understated, which actually turned out to be part of its charm. You know how some hotels try way too hard to impress you from the street? This one doesn’t need to.

What really got me was the location – and I mean, once you understand Seville’s layout, you’ll realize how clever this spot actually is. You’re in Nervión, which locals know as this perfectly livable neighborhood that’s not overrun with tourists stumbling around with maps, but you can still walk to the cathedral in about fifteen minutes if you’re feeling ambitious. The thing is, Jardines de Murillo (the actual park, not just the hotel’s name) is literally around the corner, and honestly, that’s where you’ll want to have your morning coffee anyway. I spent half my mornings there just watching the orange trees and dodging the occasional peacock – yeah, they’ve got peacocks wandering around.

The rooms themselves feel like someone actually thought about how people live, not just how hotels are supposed to look. My bathroom had this rainfall shower that – well, let’s just say after walking around Seville in July heat, it was basically life-saving. The AC worked properly too, which you might think is a given, but trust me, it’s not always the case in these older Spanish buildings. What surprised me most was how quiet everything was at night. Rastro isn’t exactly a party street, but even so, the windows must be pretty well insulated because I never heard any street noise. The WiFi actually worked in every corner of the room, including that weird dead zone by the window that most hotels somehow manage to create.

Check-in was refreshingly normal – no twenty-minute speech about amenities I’ll never use, just friendly efficiency. The front desk staff knew their stuff about the neighborhood too. When I asked about parking (because driving in Seville is basically an extreme sport), they pointed me toward this little side street where locals actually park, not the overpriced tourist lots near the cathedral. Small thing, but it saved me probably thirty euros over three days.

The breakfast situation is worth mentioning – it’s not some massive buffet with everything under the sun, but what they do have is actually good. Fresh orange juice that tastes like it came from those trees you see everywhere, proper jamón, decent coffee. I mean, you’re in Andalusia, so you’ll probably want to explore the local cafés anyway, but it’s nice to have a solid backup plan.

Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of places around Seville, and this one just works. The 9.1 rating isn’t some marketing fluke – it’s what happens when a hotel focuses on getting the basics right instead of trying to be something it’s not. You’re close enough to everything that matters, far enough from the cruise ship crowds, and the whole experience feels more like staying in a well-run local spot than some international chain that could be anywhere. Plus, those gardens really are something special, especially in the early evening when the light hits just right.

This apartment was in an excellent location to explore the Santa Cruz neighborhood. We walked all over and found a number of very good restaurants nearby. We also really appreciated the washing machine!

What could be improved: We were initially skeptical about the coded entry but it was easy to use and we appreciated the added security this afforded. we never had contact with a real person but the building security was great.

  • Anne-marie from United Kingdom – 8 October 2022 (8/10)

    Central location. Host very helpful

What could be improved: Just small things. eg bedroom door handle loose and bathroom door hard to close. Nothing that would spoil the stay

This wonderful apartment has all the amenities for a cozy and convenient stay. Its proximity to San Bernardo and Santa Justa rail stations and numerous bus stops add to the overall convenience. Despite being close to Plaza de España and the Royal Alcazar, the surroundings remain relatively quiet during the evening. Enjoy a fantastic breakfast just around the corner at La Galantina. I would unquestionably choose to stay here again. The host was exceptionally helpful and responsive

What could be improved: Brak firan w oknach, cały czas mieliśmy opuszczone rolety przez co nie wpadało do pokoi światło dzienne.
