Hotel Description
Honestly, when I first stumbled across this duplex on Calle San Pedro Mártir, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from a place that calls itself “Museum Duplex.” But you know what? It actually lives up to that intriguing name in the best possible way. The building itself feels like stepping into one of those perfectly preserved Sevillian townhouses that somehow escaped the tourist trap treatment – you’re literally in the heart of the old quarter, where the narrow cobblestone streets still echo with the clip-clop of horse-drawn carriages heading to the cathedral.
What really got me was how they’ve managed to blend historical character with genuine comfort for up to eight people. The duplex layout means you’re not all cramped into hotel-style rooms, and those patios – well, they’re exactly what you’d hope for in Seville. I mean, there’s something magical about having your morning coffee surrounded by traditional Andalusian tiles while the city slowly wakes up around you. The location puts you within a genuine five-minute walk of the cathedral and Alcázar (I timed it), but here’s the thing locals know – you’re positioned just far enough from the main tourist thoroughfares that you won’t be dealing with crowds of tour groups marching past your windows at 7 AM. The street itself is actually pretty quiet, especially in the evenings when the day-trippers head back to their coastal hotels.
I’ll be straight with you – this isn’t your typical hotel experience, and that’s exactly why it works so well. The 9.1 rating makes sense once you realize you’re getting the space and privacy of a proper apartment with the attention to detail of a boutique property. The furnishings have that lived-in elegance that takes years to get right, not the generic hotel aesthetic you see everywhere. And practically speaking, having a full kitchen and multiple bathrooms when you’re traveling with a group? Game changer. You can actually cook with ingredients from the Saturday market at Plaza de la Encarnación (about a ten-minute walk through some of the most photogenic streets in the city). The only minor thing I’d mention is that parking can be a bit of a puzzle in this part of the old town – but honestly, that’s true for anywhere in the historic center, and you really don’t need a car once you’re settled in. Everything worth seeing is either walkable or a short metro ride away, and the Puerta de Jerez station is close enough that you can easily explore beyond the city center if you want to.
