Hotel Description

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw the name “NEW APARTMENT IN TRADITIONAL BUILDING OF THE XVI CENTURY,” I thought someone’s caps lock got stuck. But you know what? Once you actually step inside this place on Calle Santiago, the quirky listing name starts to make perfect sense.

The building itself is genuinely from the 1500s, and you can feel it the moment you walk through those heavy wooden doors. The stone walls are thick enough that you barely hear the evening chatter from the tapas bars below, which is actually pretty impressive considering you’re smack in the middle of Seville’s old town. The apartment renovation is beautifully done – they’ve managed to keep all the character (those exposed beams, the original tile work) while adding modern touches that actually work. I mean, the bathroom has heated floors, which sounds ridiculous until you’re padding around on cool mornings in February.

What really got me was the location, though. Calle Santiago isn’t one of those tourist-trap streets – it’s where locals actually cut through to get to the Cathedral area, so you get this perfect mix of authentic neighborhood life and easy access to everything you want to see. The building is maybe a three-minute walk from the Cathedral (I timed it), but it’s tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with tour groups under your windows at 8 AM. There’s this tiny bakery called Horno de San Buenaventura literally around the corner that opens at 7 – honestly, their tostada con tomate became my daily ritual. The woman who runs it doesn’t speak much English, but she’ll remember how you like your coffee after two visits.

Parking is… well, it’s Seville’s old town, so forget about driving here. But the taxi drop-off works fine, and if you’re coming from the train station, it’s a pretty straightforward walk with luggage – mostly flat streets, just watch out for the cobblestones. Check-in was surprisingly smooth for what’s clearly a smaller operation; they met me right at the building and spent a good fifteen minutes going over neighborhood recommendations. They actually knew which grocery stores stay open late (Día on Calle Águilas) and warned me that the church bells start up at 7 AM sharp – which sounds annoying but is sort of charming after the first day.

The apartment itself feels way more spacious than typical European city stays. High ceilings help, obviously, but they’ve also arranged everything thoughtfully. The kitchen is small but has everything you’d actually use, and the living area gets this gorgeous afternoon light that makes you want to just sit there with a book. Air conditioning works well (crucial for Seville summers), and the Wi-Fi was solid throughout my stay. Only minor complaint? The shower pressure could be stronger, but honestly, in a building this old, I’m impressed there’s hot water at all.

This place hits that sweet spot where you feel like you’re living in historic Seville rather than just visiting it, but without sacrificing comfort or convenience. At an 8.9 rating, it’s clearly not just me who thinks so.

Reviews

  • Alan from United Kingdom – 26 May 2025 (9/10)

Ideal accommodation for a couple wishing to explore beautiful Seville. Furnished to a high standard, really comfortable and a peaceful place to stay at. Seville is a very walkable city and the apartment is ideally placed with a supermarket less than 2 mins away. We loved our stay here.

What could be improved: The handheld shower head could do with repairing/replacing.

  • Harry from United Kingdom – 13 April 2025 (9/10)

Brilliant location. Lovely and quiet apartment but still in the centre of town. Really helpful host, welcoming and friendly.

  • Remigiusz from United States – 30 March 2025 (8/10)

"Great location—just a 10–15 minute walk to the major attractions. A big advantage is that it's in the city center, yet the neighborhood is quiet!"

What could be improved: the sewer smell

  • Annette from United Kingdom – 10 March 2025 (9/10)

Beautiful apartment. Great location. Felt safe going out at night on my own.

  • Paulina from Italy – 12 January 2025 (9/10)

New, beautiful and fully equipped small appartment centrally located to explore Sevilla by foot or by public transport.
    Comfortable beds, silent building.

What could be improved: Unfortunataly humid in January but provided with small heating devices.
    No personal contact

  • Mariana from Italy – 22 October 2024 (9/10)

Such a great property! Location PERFECT, cleaned to the highest of standards and very comfortable. They even left snacks and drinks at arrival.
This flat is just magical, a modern oasis in a XVI century building. So unique!
The best of it all, is the attention of the host. We had a especial request which they fulfilled with no problems.

What could be improved: Everything was perfect!

  • K from United States – 26 September 2024 (9/10)

Great location. Walking distance to most attractions. (A bit far from the train station though. ) Very beautiful and quiet neighborhood.
    Has everything needed.

What could be improved: There’s a foul smell from the bathroom. Could be caused by sewage in the old building. The smell got stronger by the day.

  • Yang from Canada – 29 May 2024 (9/10)

Courtyard was beautiful, location was fantastic—walking distance to everything we wanted to see, and the place was clean and nicely decorated.

What could be improved: The lock to the front gate was fiddly and difficult to open sometimes.

  • Helena from Belgium – 30 April 2024 (8/10)

Very comfortable apartment, good bed and matress, good shower, nicely decorated with eye for detail, very good location, Carmen is a friendly host, safe area at night. Picking up the keys was easy.

What could be improved: You need earplugs. There is no proper sound insulation with outside, you hear everything people say and do in the patio (voices, music, shouting during open air dinners etc.)

  • Natalia from Poland – 23 March 2023 (9/10)

Localisation was perfect- walk distance to all monuments wchich we want to see. Flat was comfortable, great equipped, very clean, had comfortable bed and pillows. Very quiet building. Owner left us fruits, water, cold beer and some beverages.

    What could be improved: Nothing
