Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of boutique hotels in Seville, and O&L Casa Barrabas honestly caught me off guard in the best way possible. You know how sometimes you book a place based on photos and cross your fingers? Well, this one actually delivers. It’s tucked right into Calle Lope de Rueda in the heart of the old town – and I mean properly in the thick of things, not some tourist trap version of “historic.” You’re literally a three-minute walk from the Cathedral, but here’s the thing that surprised me: it doesn’t feel touristy at all once you step inside.

The building itself has this gorgeous traditional Sevillan courtyard that they’ve restored without going overboard on the whole “look how authentic we are” vibe. You walk in and there’s this immediate cool relief from the heat (trust me, you’ll appreciate this if you’re visiting between May and September), plus the sound just… changes. Goes from street buzz to this peaceful echo of water trickling from the central fountain. The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully modern – they kept the original tiles and thick walls but added proper air conditioning and actually decent WiFi, which honestly can be hit-or-miss in these old buildings. My room overlooked the internal patio, which meant it stayed surprisingly quiet even though we’re talking about one of the busiest areas in Seville.

What really sold me on this place, though, was how the staff seemed to actually know the neighborhood. Not just the obvious stuff like “the Cathedral is that way,” but real local intel. They pointed me toward this tiny tapas bar on Calle Mateos Gago that I never would’ve found otherwise – no tourists, just locals having their evening vermut. The location is genuinely perfect if you want to walk everywhere that matters. Barrio Santa Cruz is right there, obviously, but you’re also close enough to cross over into Triana without thinking twice about it. Parking is… well, it’s the old town, so forget about driving here. But the tram stop at Plaza Nueva is maybe five minutes away, and honestly, you won’t need it much. The one thing I’d mention is that weekend nights can get a bit lively outside – it’s Spain, people eat dinner at 10 PM and the night is just getting started – but the rooms are well-insulated enough that it never kept me awake. Actually added to the atmosphere, if I’m being honest. There’s something pretty magical about falling asleep to the distant sound of people enjoying themselves in one of Europe’s most beautiful cities.

    This apartment was a perfect spot for a short stay. It’s ideally located—close to everything but in a peaceful area. The bed was comfy, the shower had great water pressure, and the decor and furniture were beautiful, creating a really inviting atmosphere. The kitchen is small, but fully equipped for quick meals. Overall, a cozy, stylish, and well-located place I’d definitely recommend!

    The location is definitely a big plus – right in the heart of the city, just a short walk from the Cathedral, the Alcázar, and other major attractions. The entrance to the building is on the charming and narrow Lope de Rueda street, which is a tourist attraction in itself, often visited by guided groups. So if you're looking for atmosphere and energy, you’ll love it! The apartment itself is beautifully decorated, full of character, and very cozy.

    What could be improved: Unfortunately, our arrival in Seville on April 28, 2025, coincided with a major power outage (blackout) across Spain. This unexpected event significantly affected our experience and stay at O&L Casa Barrabas. While we tried to remain as objective as possible in our overall assessment, we believe there are two important areas that need immediate improvement.

    First, communication with guests should be more structured and reliable. About 5 days before our arrival, we received several messages requesting our personal details, estimated arrival time, and confirmation of check-in. After complying, we were informed that we would need to confirm our arrival again 30 minutes in advance. However, from that point onward, there was complete silence. The day before arrival, we received no information about how to access the apartment – no entry code, no instructions. Even as we departed Ronda at 11:00 AM, there was still no update. When the blackout began around 12:30 PM, communication became impossible, and chaos followed.

    Upon arriving in Seville, we couldn't locate the building. There was no signage, no staff, and no messages posted. We eventually found the address of the O&L office online, which was supposed to be open until 7 PM – but it was closed, and again, no information posted. We genuinely started to feel like we were victims of a scam, wandering between the office and the apartment in 32°C heat.

    The second major issue was the unclear and misleading address. The booking listed the property as located at Lope de Rueda 4. However, when we arrived, there was no such building. The actual entrance is marked as number 14, and there was no visible sign indicating this was part of the O&L apartments. It wasn’t until a staff member coincidentally passed by and asked if we were looking for O&L that we were told apartment 4 was located at number 14.

    Great location, clean & tidy room with a lovely roof terrace. Any questions I had were answered by the host very quickly. I would definitely look to stay here again when I revisit Seville

    L'emplacement est parfait !
    L'appartement est très propre et joli.
    Il y a une terrasse accessible sur le toit.
    Vraiment l'appartement est top.

    Aucune instruction et l'appartement est au numéro 14 et non 4.
    Du coup nous avons dû appeler le numéro dédié.
    Même si la jeune dame était charmante c'était un stress.

    Estaba todo tal cual las fotos y el chico no tardó en venir. Super cerca de todo a 5 min andando tenías la giralda. La terraza era super cómoda y se estaba genial. Tenían tostadora, para hervir el agua y un montón de comodidades además del aire acondicionado en el salón y la parte de arriba.
