So I stumbled across this place called Placentines Cathedral dreams Oasis while wandering through Seville’s old quarter, and honestly – the name’s a bit much, isn’t it? But don’t let that put you off because this little 4-star gem is tucked right into Calle Placentines, literally steps from the cathedral. I mean, you can practically reach out and touch those Gothic spires from some of the rooms.

What struck me first was how they’ve managed to create this quiet bubble in the middle of one of Seville’s busiest tourist zones. You know how the area around the cathedral usually sounds like a parade of tour groups and horse carriages? Well, once you’re inside, there’s this unexpected calm – thick walls do wonders, apparently. The building itself has that typical Sevillian charm with the courtyard-style layout, but they’ve done something clever with the interior design that feels both historic and actually comfortable (you know what I mean – some of these old places can be gorgeous but brutal to sleep in). The rooms I saw had these lovely touches like traditional tiles mixed with modern fixtures, and honestly, the bathrooms were way better than I expected for a place in the old town.

Here’s the thing about staying right on Placentines – you’re basically in the heart of everything without feeling overwhelmed by it. Pop out in the morning and you’re at the cathedral before the crowds hit, walk five minutes and you’re browsing the shops along Sierpes, or duck into one of those tiny tapas bars on Mateos Gago that the locals actually use. I particularly loved that you can slip out in the evening when the streets get that golden light bouncing off the narrow walls, then retreat back to your quiet base when the flamenco bars get too rowdy around midnight. The staff seemed to really know their stuff about the neighborhood too – not just the obvious tourist spots but things like which mornings the nearby market is best, or how to avoid the cathedral crowds (apparently Tuesday afternoons are golden). One small heads up though – parking is basically impossible right there, but honestly, that’s true for anywhere in the old quarter. The good news is you really don’t need a car once you’re settled in. With a 9.6 rating, I was expecting it to be good, but this place actually delivers on the promise of letting you live like a local while staying somewhere genuinely comfortable. It’s one of those rare finds where the location doesn’t come with major compromises on quality or peace.

  This is the perfect location: it’s surprisingly quiet (I’m a light sleeper) because it’s tucked away in a gorgeous little courtyard with typical stained glass doors and orange trees. The apartment is so close to the cathedral and made getting around so easy. Our host gave us excellent recommendations for food and things to do which were genuinely so helpful. The apartment itself is comfortable with everything you need (really appreciate a place with a decent hair dryer, iron, ironing board, washer, dryer and dishwasher). Cooking wise it has the essentials but why bother cooking at home when there are delicious tapas spots all around. The sleeper couch is in its own room, we didn’t need it but it would be very private if someone did sleep there. Check in and out was a breeze too. Would 100% stay again

  Small tourist apartment but well equipped and extremely well located. Also, very quiet considering it was in the very center since it faced a beautiful courtyard
  
  What could be improved: 2nd bedroom had a sleep sofa, which we knew. It was comfortable enough for my niece – but there is a window between the 2 bedrooms and you can hear from one room to the other clearly

  The courtyard at the property was beautiful, the location was excellent for all the main sights and restaurants, train and bus station were a 25 and 15 min walk.
  
  What could be improved: Nothing of note, the plug is the kitchen sink did not work, another bin bag for rubbish would have been very useful.
