Hotel Description

Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of hotels in Seville, and Plaza San Francisco Luxury caught me completely off guard – in the best way possible. The name honestly sounds a bit over the top for a 3-star place, but once you see where it sits, right on Plaza de San Francisco in the heart of the old town, you get why they went with it. I mean, you’re literally steps from the cathedral and Alcázar, but here’s the thing most people don’t realize – this little plaza is actually one of the quieter spots in the centro histórico. While everyone’s getting trampled on Calle Sierpes or fighting crowds near the Giralda, you’re tucked away in this peaceful corner that feels almost residential.

The building itself has that classic Sevillian charm – you know, whitewashed walls and traditional tiles – but what really impressed me was how they’ve modernized the inside without losing the character. My room wasn’t huge (this is a medieval neighborhood, after all), but it was thoughtfully designed with enough space to actually unpack, which is more than I can say for some places I’ve crashed in the Barrio Santa Cruz. The air conditioning worked like a dream too, and trust me, you’ll appreciate that when August rolls around and the city turns into an oven. One small thing that bugged me was the shower pressure – it was fine, just not amazing – but honestly, after walking 15,000 steps exploring the Macarena and Triana neighborhoods, I wasn’t too picky.

What really sold me on this place was the staff’s local knowledge. The guy at reception didn’t just give me the typical tourist spiel – he actually told me which tapas bars on nearby Calle Álvarez Quintero were worth hitting up and which ones were tourist traps. He also mentioned that the Archivo de Indias (which is basically next door) opens early and is usually empty for the first hour, which turned out to be golden advice. The whole area comes alive around 8 PM when locals start their evening paseo, and there’s something magical about watching the plaza transform from this sleepy daytime spot into a gathering place for families and friends. You’ll hear kids playing while parents chat over coffee at the little café across the square – it’s the kind of authentic Seville moment that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled onto something special. Sure, you’re paying a bit more than you would in the newer parts of the city, but when you can roll out of bed and be at the cathedral in three minutes, or duck into the Barrio Santa Cruz’s maze of streets whenever you want, it’s worth every euro. Plus, that 9.3 rating isn’t just hype – this place genuinely gets the details right.

  • Bob31d from United Kingdom – 15 June 2025 (9/10)

    Decor, air-con, location, size.

What could be improved: A welcome pack, or simply bottles water would have been good.

  • William from United States – 12 April 2025 (9/10)

The location is outstanding. Large, extremely well decorated, comfortable apartment. It also had all the appliances you could want and we enjoyed the balcony with the amazing view of City Hall which is an incredible building.Hit the hotel roof top bars which are nearby and afford excellent views while you have a cocktail. There's one seven stories up which you can see from the balcony that overlooks the Cathedral that is a must for your stay.

What could be improved: Directions on how to find it really need to be updated. There is no "Fun Shop". The door is recessed and the address is hard to find. We were very thankful the taxi driver took the extra time to help us or we would have been stressed out.

  • Steven from Australia – 9 March 2025 (10/10)

It is in a perfect location and we could walk everywhere. It had everything we needed, plus more.

Really fun decor that lived up to the pictures.

We really enjoyed our stay, Seville is amazing

  • Raul from United Kingdom – 2 March 2025 (10/10)

The house is huge. Amazing space, comfy bed, very big toilet and living room. The decor is unique and stylish. The best part, the location. 3 minutes walking to the Giralda and Cathedral. Plenty of restaurants and bars around

What could be improved: I liked everything.

  • Gregory from Canada – 27 February 2025 (10/10)

This is not an apartment or even a "piso": this is a palace! We could not believe the spaciousness, the elegance, the culture… And it is located within a couple of blocks of the central sites (Cathedral, Alcazar) and within easy walking distance of any number of fine restaurants (many of which were recommended to us by our host). I would say that Sevilla is definitely worth a visit, but I would add that for us, this apartment was a highlight OF our visit to Sevilla. The pictures on Booking don't do it justice. My only hesitation in commending it as highly as I have is that others will now flock to it. But, if we can, and hopefully we will, we will return for an even longer stay!

What could be improved: There is nothing that we did NOT like about this apartment but I would note: (1) there is no elevator access to it and you will have stairs to contend with and (2) there are some unlevel thresholds within the apartment that you will need to be aware of, especially in the dark and/or at night.

  • Kristin from United States – 18 February 2025 (10/10)

Such a unique and beautiful property with a location that can’t be beat! Comfortable, quiet, but still in the heart of everything!

What could be improved: Nothing – thank you!

  • Neale from United Kingdom – 15 February 2025 (10/10)

Location was perfect for exploring Seville

  • Leigh from United Kingdom – 2 December 2024 (10/10)

Great rooms, lots of space, facilitiies good. Location superb. Liked that the host had responded to previous feedback eg. coffee pods

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • David from New Zealand – 21 October 2024 (9/10)

This was an excellent base for exploring Seville, exactly as described by other reviewers, in a superb location and despite the noisy square, the apartment was quiet. Flamboyantly decorated and well supplied including a laundry and TV, really comfortable for an extended stay. Just one flight of stairs to manage with cases. Very special stay thanks to this apartment.

What could be improved: Ironing board was broken but we managed a temporary repair. But nothing to complain about at all, as outlined above. Thanks for a great stay.

  • Philip from United Kingdom – 10 September 2024 (9/10)

The apartment was exactly like the pictures and was bigger than expected. Lovely view from the balcony and, as others have said, the noise from downstairs is barely audible in the bedroom which was peaceful.

What could be improved: A couple of coffee pods would have been a nice touch but we found a pack in a nearby shop .
