You know what struck me first about Puerta de San Juan? It’s tucked away on this narrow cobblestone street – Calle Guadalquivir – that honestly feels like you’ve stepped back about 500 years. I mean, you’re literally in the heart of Seville’s old quarter here, where the buildings lean in so close you can practically touch both sides if you stretch your arms out. The hotel itself sits in what’s clearly a renovated traditional Andalusian building, and they’ve done a really nice job keeping that authentic feel without making you feel like you’re camping in a museum.
The location is actually incredible if you know Seville at all. You’re maybe a five-minute walk from the Cathedral – and I’m talking about that massive Gothic beast that dominates the skyline – plus you can easily wander over to the Alcázar without breaking a sweat. What I really appreciated though is that despite being so central, the street itself stays pretty quiet at night. Sure, you’ll hear some late-night chatter drifting up from the tapas bars around the corner (there’s this little place on Calle Mateos Gago that serves killer jamón), but it’s not the kind of noise that’ll keep you up. The rooms have that thick-walled Spanish building thing going on, which helps a lot.
Honestly, the staff here gets it – they understand that most people staying in the old town want to experience real Seville, not some sanitized tourist version. They’ll point you toward the neighborhood spots where locals actually go, and they’re pretty honest about timing too. Like, they’ll tell you to hit the Giralda early morning before the tour groups descend, or which evenings the nearby streets turn into an absolute maze of people (usually weekends, especially during spring). The 8.4 rating makes sense to me – it’s solid without being flashy, and the four-star designation feels right. You’re getting good comfort and service, but this isn’t trying to be some luxury palace. The charm here is really about the location and that authentic Sevillian atmosphere. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I wanted to be right in the thick of things but still have a peaceful place to retreat to at the end of a long day wandering those winding medieval streets.

Nice studio style apartment with beds and a bathroom on the ground floor and on a mezzanine level.
It's a coded entry system, so it was convenient not to have to arrange a time to pick the keys up from someone. The accommodation was very well appointed with a good kitchen, iron etc
What could be improved: The accommodation is a good 15 minute walk from the centre of town and there's not really any parking nearby, so be warned if you're coming by car. Great spot, central to everything. We were out in Seville to run the Marathon. Having facilites to cook and relax before and after was perfect. Check in seamless. Would book again!

The premises were new, very spacious and in a nice area of the city. It was quiet and you had access to the old town, bar areas, very nice restaurants. I would reccomend this for big families and groups of friends that are ok with not that much privacy between the rooms 😀
What could be improved: When we arrived the sheets were not changed, towels not changed, blankets dirty…It was really yucky, good for us we had some towels to put over the pillows as to get some good night slee. Next morning they sent the cleaning lady and after her visit things were back to normal, decently clean. SO yeah, make sure they do not slack off with the cleaning beforehand. Also, there is really difficult to park if you arrive by car. We have driven from Madrid to Granada, then to Sevilla and when we arrived, after unloading our luggage, I spent almost 40mins to find a legal parking space (paid).Love257 from Germany – 7 September 2024 (5/10)

L'appartement disposait de l'équipement dont on a besoin en vacances. Nous étions 6 et l'espace était suffisant pour circuler. En ce moment il y a des travaux chez le voisin mais comme nous étions à Séville pour visiter pas trop de gêne. Pas pu profiter de la piscine trop froide dommage. Commerces à proximité ainsi que terrasses.
What could be improved: Le fait de ne pas pouvoir laisser les valises dans un endroit à l'adresse de l'appartement plutôt que de les garder avec soi ou les mettre en consigne un peu loin de l'appartement.
