So here’s the thing about Puerta del Sol – it’s one of those places that actually gets the whole “boutique hotel in historic Seville” thing right, which honestly isn’t as common as you’d think. The building itself sits on this narrow little street called Calle Ángeles, and I mean narrow – you’ll walk right past it if you’re not paying attention. But that’s sort of the charm, you know? You’re literally in the heart of the old quarter, maybe a three-minute walk from the cathedral, but tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with tour groups trampling past your window at 7 AM.

The rooms have this really nice balance between honoring the building’s age (we’re talking serious Andalusian architecture here) and actually being comfortable to stay in. The ceilings are properly high, the way they should be in these old places, and they’ve kept original details like the tile work without making it feel like you’re sleeping in a museum. What I really appreciated was the attention to soundproofing – and trust me, this matters in Seville’s old town where the streets can get pretty lively, especially during feria season. The beds are actually good too, which… well, let’s just say that’s not always a given in historic properties where charm sometimes trumps comfort.

You know what really won me over though? The staff genuinely knows the neighborhood. I asked about where to get coffee that wasn’t tourist-targeted, and the guy at the front desk didn’t just point me toward the nearest Starbucks – he sent me to this little place two streets over where locals actually go. That kind of insider knowledge makes a huge difference when you’re trying to experience Seville beyond the guidebook highlights. The location means you can walk to basically everything worth seeing in the old quarter, but more importantly, you can stumble back from dinner without needing to figure out taxis or public transport. There’s something to be said for being able to duck into your hotel for a siesta between morning sightseeing and evening tapas crawling – very civilized, really. The 8.8 rating isn’t just fluff either; they’ve managed to create something that feels both authentic to the city and genuinely comfortable to stay in, which is harder to pull off than it sounds.

  Schlüsselübergabe sehr gut organisiert, sehr freundlich. Sehr gute Ausstattung, vor allem in der Küche, mit Kaffee, Tee, Gewürzen. Jedes Problem wurde für uns sehr gut gelöst.
