Hotel Description
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked down Calle de Rodrigo Caro – it’s honestly one of those narrow streets in Seville’s old quarter that looks pretty unremarkable from the outside. But Puerta Principe completely surprised me. The building itself has this gorgeous traditional Andalusian facade that you’d walk right past if you weren’t looking for it, which is actually perfect because you’re staying in the real Seville, not some tourist bubble. The moment you step inside though, it’s like someone took a 16th century palace and gave it the most thoughtful modern renovation I’ve seen. The apartments – and I mean actual apartments, not hotel rooms pretending to be apartments – have these incredible original details like exposed wooden beams and traditional tile work, but then you’ve got proper kitchens with decent appliances and bathrooms that actually work (trust me, this matters more than you think in old Seville buildings).
What really sold me on this place is the location, and I don’t mean that in the generic “convenient location” way that every hotel claims. You’re literally a three-minute walk from the Cathedral – I timed it – but you’re tucked away enough that you don’t hear the tour groups at dawn. The neighborhood is what locals call the Casco Antiguo, and honestly, it’s where I’d want to live if I moved to Seville. There’s this tiny tapas bar called El Rinconcillo just around the corner that’s been there since 1670 (no joke, it’s the oldest bar in Seville), and you’ll find yourself stopping there for a quick glass of manzanilla on your way back to the apartment. The streets here are narrow enough that cars can barely squeeze through, which means it stays pretty quiet, especially at night. Actually, the only real downside is that getting a taxi directly to the door can be tricky – drivers sometimes get confused with the one-way streets, so I usually just told them “near the Cathedral” and walked the last bit.
The staff here actually know what they’re doing, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how rare that is. They gave me restaurant recommendations that weren’t just the obvious tourist spots, and when I had an issue with the air conditioning (it was July, so essential), someone was there within twenty minutes. The apartments themselves feel more like staying in a friend’s really nice place than a hotel – there’s actual personality in the design, and you’ve got space to spread out. I mean, after a day walking around Seville in the heat, being able to come back and make a proper coffee in your own kitchen while sitting in that gorgeous interior courtyard… that’s when you know you picked the right place. Plus, at a 9.5 rating, I wasn’t the only one who felt this way – though honestly, I’m almost hesitant to recommend it because I want it to stay this good.

amazing location, pictures do the property justice as it is lovely. View from the balcony is superb. Air con is just perfect on the settings and the water left in the fridge was very welcome
What could be improved: Nothing but water flow in the shower is slowish and feel petty for raising it.Jason from United States – 7 June 2025 (10/10)
This is the real deal: amazing apartment with unbeatable location and fantastic views. We stayed in apartment #3, which is directly above a Spanish restaurant and adjacent to an award-winning Mexican restaurant. Mariachis serenaded us.
Miguel, our host, went above and beyond to welcome us to his unique property in the heart of the UNESCO world heritage neighbourhood at 2am after our severe travel delays. The apartment was a welcome respite after travelling across the globe. Clean, secure, spacious. Simply amazing location adjacent to the Real Alcazar and Cathedral.
Miguel was a consummate host, ensuring we were comfortable and looked after. He suggested a flamenco show, which we weren't initially interested in, but were so so glad that we attended as it was a highlight of our stay. He also connected us with rooftop breakfast buffet at the hotel across the plaza from us, which also had amazing views of the Cathedral. Miguel also arranged convenient airport transfers.
We cannot recommend Puerta Principe Luxury Apartments highly enough. Amazing!Aileen from United Kingdom – 6 June 2025 (10/10)
