Ramón y Cajal by TheGoodTourist Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Ramón y Cajal by TheGoodTourist? It’s actually tucked away in this residential part of Sur that most tourists never see, but honestly – that’s exactly what makes it special. I mean, you’re still in Seville, but you get this authentic neighborhood vibe where locals are walking their dogs in the morning and kids are playing football in the small plazas nearby. The whole area feels refreshingly normal after you’ve been dodging selfie sticks around the Cathedral all day.
The hotel itself has this understated elegance that I really appreciated – none of that over-the-top Andalusian theme park stuff you see everywhere else. The building feels contemporary but not cold, and the staff actually seem to know the city beyond just the obvious tourist spots. When I asked about breakfast places, they pointed me toward this tiny café three blocks down where the cortados were ridiculously good and cost half what you’d pay near the Alcázar. That kind of local knowledge is worth its weight in gold, honestly. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star – clean, comfortable beds, decent shower pressure (which isn’t always a given in Spanish hotels, let’s be real). The air conditioning actually works properly too, which you’ll definitely need if you’re visiting between June and September.
Location-wise, you’re maybe a 15-minute walk to the old town, or there’s a bus stop practically outside the door if your feet are killing you from all the cobblestones. I actually liked being slightly removed from the chaos – you can walk back after dinner and the streets get quieter as you approach the hotel, which made for better sleep. Parking seemed straightforward if you’re driving, though I’d recommend the train from Madrid instead because honestly, navigating Seville’s old quarter in a rental car is nobody’s idea of a good time. The neighborhood has this lived-in feeling with small tapas bars where you might be the only tourist, plus a couple of really good restaurants that don’t feel like they’re performing “authentic Spain” for visitors. The whole Sur district is sort of having a moment anyway – younger locals are moving here because it’s more affordable than the center, so there’s this cool energy without the gentrification feeling forced. With a 9.3 rating, I get why people love this place. It strikes that perfect balance between being professional and polished while still feeling like you’re staying somewhere with actual character rather than just another hotel room.

La limpieza y equipamiento.
What could be improved: En general todo bien.

Great location for exploring the city. Everthing was in good working order. The only issue is the bed is only a double, great shower too.
What could be improved: The living room lamp needs so TLCHonglu from Canada – 7 May 2025 (10/10)
A spacious apartment for two people. Walkable to many monuments including Spanish square, Cathedral. But if don’t like walk, bus connections are also very convenient. And bus fee costs only 0.35Euro if buying a rechargeable transportation card, otherwise a bus ride costs 1.4Euro.
Quite a few supermarket are in the near.
Kitchen is quite sufficient equipped. If the owner can replace the rusted pot with new one, it will become perfect.
University is in the near, very vibrant with so
many young students around.
We will defiantly choose this place in the future visit.Tomasz from Canada – 5 May 2025 (10/10)
Very cleanand very well prepared appartment. There was everything which tourist may need, together with the washing machine soap! I felt that the linen is as clean and fresh like home!
The owner was exteemly nice and accommodating. It was very important as we arrived on the day of blackout and we're not able to use internet and phone. CoTbe owner was waiting for us long time to give us key and explain all.
We recommend the appartment wholeheartedly!

Thank you for the welcome, very comfortable apartment. To the center 4-5 stops by streetcar, the stop is nearby. Also next to the house is the bus route to the airport and to the train station.
Nearby there are stores.
Inside is very clean, has everything you need. Frying pans and electric kettle I would recommend replacing with newer ones.
It was chilly in February, but having air conditioning in the hall and bedroom solved this problem.
The traffic is quite noisy but with the shutters closed the bedroom is almost silent and very dark, we got a good night's sleep.
Thanks again!Kim from United States – 29 October 2024 (10/10)
Such a great place! The kitchen is super small and narrow, but quite well-equipped. There was no microwave despite it being listed as part of the amenities, so we asked about it and the hosts went out and bought a brand new one and brought it to us the next day!! They were super responsive both before and after our arrival. Other than that, the kitchen is great for cooking a few meals and not having to eat out all the time. The layout of the rest of the apartment feels nice and roomy and is perfect for two people. There aren’t many pictures in the listing, but the place is very nice, clean, and functional. It is located in a university area that is very busy and vibrant with lots of amenities around we loved that!
What could be improved: It is about a 30min walk from the main attractions and the Centro area, but we love to walk so that was not a problem for us. The sofa is strangely uncomfortable to sit on the way the back is designed, but not a big deal. There were a couple of boxes full of espresso pods in the kitchen cupboards, but no pod-based machine, which was a little odd. The bath towels are more like oversized hand towels; larger towels would have been nice. When a guest is staying more than just a few days (we stayed 1 week), leaving more toilet paper rolls would be a good thing, but we just bought a few ourselves. Highly recommend this apartment for a stay in Sevilla!Susan from United Kingdom – 19 December 2023 (9/10)
Great communication. Beautiful city, centre is about a half hour walk but a lot of the attractions and parks are closer so ideal location for everywhere . Apartment was kitted out with everything you could need and lots of information about places to visit
Shingai from France – 28 September 2023 (10/10)
