You know what really caught me off guard about San Isidoro Cathedral Deluxe? The name makes it sound like some stuffy, overly formal place where you’d whisper in the lobby, but honestly, it’s got this really comfortable, lived-in elegance that works perfectly for Seville. I mean, you’re literally on Calle San Isidoro in the heart of the old town – I could hear the cathedral bells from my room, which sounds romantic until you realize they ring every fifteen minutes (though honestly, after the first night you sort of tune it out).

The location is actually incredible if you know Seville at all. You’re basically surrounded by the kind of narrow cobblestone streets where locals still hang laundry from their balconies, and you can walk to the Real Alcázar in about eight minutes – I timed it because I’m weird like that. What I really appreciated was how the hotel fits into the neighborhood instead of dominating it. The building has that typical Andalusian courtyard setup, and they’ve kept the original tile work in the common areas, which gives it this authentic feel that a lot of chain hotels completely miss. The staff seemed to actually live in Seville too, not just work there – they’d recommend little tapas bars tucked away on side streets that you’d never find otherwise.

Here’s the thing about staying in Seville’s old town though – parking is basically nonexistent, so if you’re driving, plan accordingly. But that’s honestly part of the charm because you end up walking everywhere, and this hotel puts you right in the middle of it all. The rooms themselves are what you’d expect from a solid four-star place – nothing groundbreaking, but the air conditioning actually works (crucial in summer), the beds are comfortable, and the bathrooms have decent water pressure. I stayed during Easter week, which is absolutely insane in Seville with all the processions, and while the streets were packed with people until well past midnight, the hotel somehow managed to feel like a peaceful retreat. The 8.8 rating makes total sense to me – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but it does everything really well and the location is honestly unbeatable if you want to experience Seville like a local rather than a tourist shuttling between landmarks. Plus, there’s something special about falling asleep to the sound of late-night conversations echoing off the old stone walls outside your window.

  It was a lovely apartment, very spacious, comfortable, tidy, clean and a wonderful location. Close walk to the cathedral, and lots of good restaurants, bars and shops right in the heart of old town. The staff were also lovely and very helpful!
