You know what struck me first about the Santa Cruz Pearl? It’s tucked away on this narrow cobblestone street – Calle Ximénez de Enciso – that most tourists completely miss, even though you’re literally in the heart of Seville’s old quarter. I mean, you’re a two-minute walk from the Cathedral and Alcázar, but somehow this little stretch feels like a secret the locals are keeping to themselves.

The building itself has that authentic Sevillian charm without trying too hard, if that makes sense. The interior courtyard – and honestly, every decent hotel in this part of Seville better have one – actually feels cool and peaceful, not like some of those places where they’ve renovated all the character out of it. The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully modern; they’ve kept the high ceilings and original details but added proper air conditioning (trust me, you’ll need it in summer) and bathrooms that actually work. The staff genuinely seems to know the neighborhood – not just the obvious tourist spots, but where to grab the best montaditos at 11 PM or which tapas bars the locals actually frequent.

Here’s the thing about staying in Santa Cruz that guidebooks don’t really tell you: mornings are magical, but evenings can get pretty lively with all the horse carriages and tour groups. The Pearl’s location is perfect because you’re deep enough into the maze of streets to avoid most of that chaos, but you can still walk to Plaza de Armas or catch the tram to Triana without any hassle. Parking is basically impossible around here (I mean, these streets were built for donkeys, not rental cars), but there’s a decent public garage about five minutes away – the hotel folks will point you toward it. The 8.5 rating makes total sense to me; it’s not trying to be a luxury palace, but everything works the way it should, the beds are comfortable, and you wake up feeling like you’re actually in Seville, not some international hotel that could be anywhere. Plus, and this might sound weird, but the acoustics are surprisingly good for such an old building – you’re not hearing every conversation from the hallway or street noise all night like you do in some of these historic properties.

  Excellent location near to the Cathedral, Alcazar and in the old town. Comfortable,
  spacious and well appointed apartment with air conditioning, microwave, coffee machine,
  kettle and toaster. Perfect base for 4 day stay.

  La struttura si trova in una posizione super strategica perché ti permette di raggiungere le maggiori attrazioni a pochi passi.
  Appartamento molto carino e con I comfort necessari (lavatrice e microonde).
  Abbiamo trovato un welcome kit con sapone per i piatti, canovaccio, spugne e una tavoletta per la lavatrice.. davvero apprezzato!
  Vicino la struttura si trova un negozio che vende prodotti a base di arancia e ogni giorno arrivava un profumo davvero gradevole.
  
  What could be improved: Non ci sono abbastanza posate. Gli utensili e i ripiani non erano in buone condizioni. La sera era piuttosto rumoroso, il che era comprensibile data la posizione. Il bagno era un po' un minimal, senza finestre o ventilazione di alcun tipo e la vasca non molto comoda per essere usata come doccia.

  What could be improved: De douche in bad is levensgevaarlijk, zonder enige houvast of antislip, maar wel met 2 glazen plankjes waar je bij uitglijden een slagaderlijke bloeding aan over kunt houden.

  L'emplacement est exceptionnel. C'est un bon rapport qualité/prix. Vous pouvez revenir facilement et rapidement à l'appartement pour vous changer, déposer des affaires. Vous avez de bon restaurants à proximité qui vous feront oublier la kitchenette que vous utiliserez finalement que pour le café du matin.
  
  What could be improved: L'appartement est vieillissant contrairement aux photos présentées. Les climatisations n'étaient pas opérationnels (une HS et l'autre sans air chaud). On nous a laissé 2 radiateurs (mois de févier) dont un ne fonctionnait pas. Le nettoyage est douteux (une chaussette usagée et retrouvée sous le coussin du canapé !, plan de travail avec un peu de graisse). Pas possible de prendre un bain, l'eau s'écoule. Micro-onde sans doute trop petit (mais un réfrigérateur congélateur immense). Difficile de loger une pizza pour 2 personnes…
