Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Singular Corral de San José? The entrance is tucked away on this narrow cobblestone street in the heart of Seville’s old quarter, and honestly, I almost walked past it twice looking for the address. But that’s actually part of its charm – it feels like discovering a secret that most tourists miss while they’re hunting for the bigger chain hotels.

The building itself is this beautifully restored 18th-century mansion, and I mean truly restored, not just slapped with some modern paint and called historic. You can still see original architectural details everywhere – the carved wooden ceilings, these gorgeous tile work patterns, and a central courtyard that actually makes you stop and catch your breath. The staff genuinely knows the neighborhood too, which is rare these days. When I asked about getting to the Cathedral early to beat crowds, the guy at reception didn’t just point me toward the main tourist route – he sketched out this back-alley path that cuts through Plaza de la Alianza and gets you there in half the time. That’s the kind of local knowledge you can’t Google.

The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully modern without losing the soul of the place. Mine had these massive wooden shutters that actually blocked out the street noise (and trust me, Jimios street can get lively, especially Thursday through Saturday nights when locals are bar-hopping). The bed was legitimately comfortable – not just hotel-marketing comfortable – and the bathroom had one of those rainfall showers that didn’t make me feel like I was standing under a trickle, which seems to happen at half the boutique places I stay at. What really won me over though was the little terrace area they have upstairs. It’s not huge, but you can see across the rooftops toward the Giralda tower, especially beautiful right around sunset when the light hits all that golden stone.

Location-wise, you’re literally a five-minute walk from the Cathedral and Alcázar, but here’s the thing – you’re also right in the middle of where actual Sevillanos go out. There’s this tiny tapas place called El Rinconcillo just around the corner that’s been there since the 1600s (no joke), and you’ll see more locals than tourists there, especially if you go around 9 PM. The hotel sits right between the main tourist zone and the more authentic neighborhood spots, which I think is the sweet spot for really experiencing Seville. Parking is basically impossible on the street itself, but they’ll direct you to a garage about two blocks away – just factor that into your budget because it’s not cheap. Check-in was smooth, no drama, and they were flexible when my flight got delayed and I showed up later than expected. It’s the kind of place that feels special without trying too hard, if that makes sense.

Reviews

  • Sabine from Germany – 15 June 2025 (9/10)

Great Communication. Very convenient in the middle of town with a nice patio. Next parking at Placa Nueva, about 5 min away. Comfiy beds, nice shower and comfiy towels. Clean rooms.

  • Ian from United Kingdom – 6 June 2025 (8/10)

Fantastic location. Plenty of space. Clean. Small courtyard was a bonus.

What could be improved: Bathroom needs, more shelving and a refurbishment. For us pointless having a bidet. Shower screen at wrong end of bath. Safe failed – but we were given the key.

  • Joanna from United Kingdom – 20 May 2025 (7/10)

The location is very good, place was clean, bed comfy.

What could be improved: It is very very very noisy at night. It is right near the cathedral so the bells go off every hour until early hours of the morning and start again early the next day. You can also hear a lot of people on the street. I ended up having to sleep with air pods in listening to white noise. So I suggest bringing ear plugs. That is the only negative though.

  • Silvia from Bulgaria – 19 May 2025 (8/10)

Very good location, clean and maintained. Would go back.

What could be improved: Quite small shower cabin.

  • Zacharias from Australia – 18 May 2025 (8/10)

It was a roomy apartment close to the main tourist attractions.

What could be improved: As we had no WiFi once we left our previous accomodation, we did not receive instructions for the key box code or the courtyard door code. Very frustrating!

  • Anne from United States – 12 May 2025 (9/10)

Location location location, size great, bed comfy all great

  • Michael from Australia – 3 May 2025 (8/10)

Position with courtyard and good facilities except size of the shower

What could be improved: The tiny shower

  • Michelle from United Kingdom – 1 May 2025 (8/10)

    The location was excellent.

What could be improved: We didn’t see any staff at the Reception area the whole 5 days we were there. It would have been nice to get a map or talk through where places were.
