You know what caught me off guard about Suites Maestranza? The name sounds all fancy and intimidating, but honestly, this place just feels… right. I mean, you walk up to this converted building on Calle General Castaños and it’s got that perfect Seville thing going on – traditional facade with these gorgeous wrought-iron balconies, but when you step inside, it’s clearly been thoughtfully updated without losing its soul.

The location is actually brilliant if you know anything about getting around Seville’s old town. You’re literally a two-minute walk from the Cathedral – and I’m talking about the massive Gothic monster that dominates the skyline, not some random church. But here’s the thing most people don’t realize: being on General Castaños means you’re close enough to everything that matters, but far enough from the main tourist drags that you’re not dealing with groups of people taking selfies outside your window at 7 AM. The street itself has this lovely residential feel, with actual Sevillanos going about their daily business, which I found way more charming than staying right in the thick of things. Plus, there’s a little café around the corner where the owner remembers your coffee order after two days – that kind of neighborhood.

What really won me over, though, were the suites themselves. These aren’t your typical cramped European hotel rooms. The apartments (because that’s really what they are) have actual living spaces where you can spread out, and the kitchenettes are properly equipped – not just a mini-fridge and a prayer. The beds are seriously comfortable, which matters more than you think after a day of walking on cobblestones in the Andalusian heat. The air conditioning actually works, thank god, because Seville in summer is no joke. I stayed in July and honestly thought I might melt, but the rooms stayed blissfully cool. There’s also this attention to detail that you don’t always get – good water pressure in the showers, decent WiFi that doesn’t cut out every five minutes, and windows that actually block out street noise. The decor walks that fine line between stylish and comfortable… sort of modern minimalist but with enough character that it doesn’t feel sterile.

The only minor thing I’d mention is that check-in can be a bit of a process since it’s apartment-style rather than traditional hotel front desk service, but the staff are genuinely helpful and they’ll walk you through everything. Actually, I kind of liked having more independence once I got settled. And parking – well, it’s Seville’s old town, so forget about driving here anyway. The nearest metro stop is a short walk, but honestly, you’ll probably end up walking everywhere because the whole historic center is basically your backyard. Those 8.6 ratings you see online? Yeah, they make sense once you’ve actually stayed here.

  What a real beautiful, clean, modern apartment! We walked to the Basilica, Alcazar, river, tram stop, and bus stops.
  Restaurants were easily accessible. The host was responsive to questions.
  The stay at the apartment really made our Seville sojourn enjoyable.

  Liked that there are two sets of temperature controls. Clean, modern.
  
  What could be improved: Kitchen area quite crowded. Two people cannot get their breakfast at the same time. The common area is quite small and we had to use the coffee table as a luggage rack. No place for open luggage. They need benches at the end of the beds plus fold up luggage racks. No place to air dry dishes ‘tho we used the dishwasher as a drying rack.

  Property was well situated so that all major tourist sites were within walking distance. Although near to the town centre it was quiet at night. Beds were comfortable and kitchen had sufficient equipment etc with teabags, coffee pods, salt, pepper, oil and water provided on arrival.

  The penthouse apartment is is well equipped, arranged over 2 floors, with 2 bathrooms which are very modern and 2 double beds. It was very close to the centre of Seville, just 10 minutes to the Cathedral and close to where the bars and restaurants are. But it is in a quite location with no noise from bars or nightlife.
  
  What could be improved: It would have been helpful to have some instructions for the hot tub. It's a bonus facility but only if you know how to use it.

  Excellent location, cleanliness, beds.
  
  What could be improved: Lift stopped working after first day. We didn't report it so in fairness the hosts were not in a position to know. The apartment could benefit from having USB ports for charging.

  Great location, comfortable bed. Plenty of space.
  
  What could be improved: Everything has been designed for the photos, not practicality. There is no shelf for toiletries in the shower so you have to put things on the floor and bend over for your shampoo etc. No thermostat on the shower with a shared hot water system means it is impossible to have a constant temperature. I got scalded once while retrieving conditioner! The washbasin tap has been set back so far that when you wash your hands the water floods the surround. Also no shelf for toiletries. In the living room/ kitchen area there is a pitifully small number of single power sockets. Just one single socket serves the whole kitchen area; coffee machine, kettle, microwave…. no toaster and no draining board area. The microwave has to go on the dining table, which must be moved against the wall, to be used at all. More hooks for hanging clothes would be useful throughout the flat. Just a little thought would make it a much better experience overall.

  Location is great, quiet but very close to the historic centre of Sevilla. The apartment is smart and well equipped, clean and comfortable.
