Suites Murillo Plaza Sta. Cruz Overview

You know what struck me first about Suites Murillo Plaza Sta. Cruz? The location is almost too good to be true – I mean, you’re literally on Plaza Alfaro, which puts you right in the heart of the Santa Cruz neighborhood without being on one of those tourist-trampled streets where you can’t hear yourself think. It’s this perfect little square that most visitors walk right past on their way to the cathedral, but honestly, that’s exactly what makes it special.

The building itself has that classic Sevillian thing going on – you walk through this unassuming entrance and suddenly you’re in this gorgeous interior courtyard that just makes you stop and breathe. The suites are actually proper apartments, not those cramped hotel rooms where you’re tripping over your suitcase every five minutes. I stayed in one of the corner units and had these tall windows that opened right onto the plaza – you can sit there in the morning with your coffee and watch the neighborhood wake up, which is pretty magical actually. The decor walks that fine line between traditional Andalusian style and modern comfort without feeling like a museum or a chain hotel. Air conditioning that actually works too, which if you’ve been to Seville in summer, you know that’s not always a given.

What really sold me on this place though is how it feels like you’re living in the neighborhood rather than just visiting it. The narrow streets around here – Callejón del Agua is literally around the corner – are where you’ll find those hidden tapas bars that don’t have English menus and tiny galleries tucked into converted houses. You’re a three-minute walk from the Alcázar’s main entrance, but more importantly, you’re close to the good stuff that locals actually use. There’s this little grocery store on Mateus Gago where the owner will tell you exactly which jamón to buy, and honestly, having that kind of access when you’re staying somewhere makes all the difference. The 9.1 rating makes sense when you experience how the staff actually knows the area – they’ll send you to the flamenco show that happens in someone’s courtyard rather than the touristy tablao everyone else recommends. Even practical stuff like parking (there’s a garage about two blocks away on Cano y Cueto) and getting around – well, you won’t need to get around much because everything worth seeing is walkable from here. The only thing I’d mention is that weekends can get a bit lively since there are some bars nearby, but it’s more charming neighborhood energy than obnoxious party noise.

Reviews of Suites Murillo Plaza Sta. Cruz

  • Katherine from Australia – 14 June 2025 (9/10)

Exceptional boutique hotel in the heart of Seville. Modern facilities with all the inclusions needed for a short stay. Ideally located to the key attractions.

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Nikica from Croatia – 26 May 2025 (8/10)

Location is perfect, bed is really comfortable and the staff is friendly.

What could be improved: The fridge in the room is way to small and didn't work properly. No basic things for cooking like salt and oil.
There is no place to put luggage and your own things when you unpack. Such a big bathroom with not one shelf!
There was no door for the bedroom (and there are on the photos), that was important for us because we were traveling with a baby who needs peace to sleep.
The jacuzzi was only half full.

  • Natalie from United States – 6 April 2025 (10/10)

Location was great and the staff was really friendly and gave several recommendations which was helpful. We had the room with the private jacuzzi which was amazing and I highly recommend! Room was clean and had plenty of space.

Perfect location in the middle of Sevilla's old town. Very friendly and helpful staff. Big room, good for a small family.

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Anna from Poland – 2 March 2025 (10/10)

The location offers easy access to all city attractions, plenty of very good dining places, one which definitely can be advised is next door. Apartment is well equipped, very clean. We have moved from other place which was very noisy, that one offered piece at night and the bed was super comfortable. The Staff is amazing! we had mostly been supported by Maria who was absolutely exceptional, thought about every detail.

What could be improved: Nothing to list here

  • Iraklis from Greece – 26 February 2025 (9/10)

The building ( historical / Rosina’s Balcony)… location ( inside the historical area of Sevilla)…very near to everything

What could be improved: The breakfast must be free of charge!

  • Lynnb from United Kingdom – 21 February 2025 (9/10)

Perfect location next to gardens but within very easy reach of Real Alcazar, the Cathedral and many restaurants.

What could be improved: Lighting in the room was a little dark, but this wasn't a big issue.

  • Abigail from United States – 17 January 2025 (10/10)

This was a beautiful property in a beautiful city. I don't think we could have chosen a better place to stay. The room was modern, with a practical efficiency we used a bit. It was spacious enough for us with our 4 year-old. We loved having the gorgeous park right outside. The location was really perfect, steps away from all there is to see in Sevilla. We didn't want to leave! We took a taxi from the airport and easily walked to the train station when we left.

  • Beverley from United Kingdom – 3 January 2025 (10/10)

Loved this place..Martin in reception.was brilliant and wiated for to turn up.NYE eve🙏. The location was perfect … very pretty.by the park and cathedral yet tucked away. And within easy walking distance of everything we wanted.to see. Alfred's was great as were the surrounding tapas bars. The accommodation was excellent … clean, comfortable, and spacious, with cooking facilities, toiletries towels etc. 10/10

  • Alisa from United States – 8 December 2024 (9/10)

location was fantastic. The room was very nice.

What could be improved: Staff were great except one guy. We had asked the day before about getting a cab to the train station; the nice woman at reception told us to come to reception 30 min prior to when we needed the cab and then they would call. The next day when it came time to do so we were at reception and told the guy at the desk we needed a cab to the train station. We waited there for 20 min assuming he had called. When the cab hadnt come yet I checked with him. He started gesturing and yelling “at the avenue! at the avenue!” When I said i didnt understand he said impatiently again “at the avenue! 2-minute walk!” and gesticulated towards the adjoining park. I was confused, as we had previously taken a cab that came to the hotel door, and saw other cabs come right up to the hotel door also, so why would we need to drag our suitcases down through the park to the road? But we didnt really have a choice; he clearly had limited English skills and he made it clear he wasnt going to do anything more than point us down there. We thought maybe there’s a cab stand there, or for some reason the cab he called was waiting down there. So we dragged out suitcases down there, and guess what! no cab stand, no cab! We were in disbelief that after such very nice treatment at the hotel by all the women at reception, two grey-haired women would just be dismissed to drag their suitcases down to the main road to hail a cab on their own. It was unbelievable! After trying to hail a cab unsuccessfully for 10 min I was starting to panic but luckily one came by that was empty and picked us up. Fortunately we had allotted extra time or we might have missed our train due to this jerk at the hotel. Our guess was that all of the really nice English-speaking women who had been at reception during our trip must have been unavailable so this guy who usually did not do customer service ended up at the front desk. Anyway, other than that the hotel was totally great.
