Hotel Description
Honestly, when I first walked up to the Triplex en Casa Palacio Moratín, I wasn’t sure what to expect – the entrance is tucked right into this narrow street in the old quarter, and you might actually walk past it if you’re not paying attention. But once you step inside, wow. This isn’t just some renovated apartment; they’ve taken a genuine palatial building and turned it into something that feels like staying in a piece of Seville’s history without sacrificing modern comfort.
The location is what really gets me excited about this place. You’re literally on Calle Moratín, which means you can stumble out the door and be at some of the city’s best tapas bars in about thirty seconds – I mean, La Bartola is practically next door, and if you’ve never had their jamón, well, you’re missing out. The Cathedral and Alcázar are close enough that you’ll find yourself walking there instead of dealing with taxis, but here’s the thing nobody tells you: being this central means you’ll hear some street noise, especially on weekend nights when the bars are buzzing. It didn’t bother me (actually added to the authentic Seville experience), but light sleepers might want to pack earplugs.
What struck me most was how they’ve managed to keep the palace character intact – high ceilings, original architectural details, that sort of grandeur you expect from a building with this kind of history – while making everything feel livable and, honestly, pretty luxurious. The triplex setup is clever too; you get this sense of having your own little corner of the palace rather than just occupying a hotel room. The staff clearly knows the neighborhood inside and out, which is invaluable when you’re trying to figure out where to eat or which flamenco shows are worth your time versus the tourist traps. I ended up at this tiny bar called El Rinconcillo (apparently it’s been around since 1670) because the front desk guy insisted I had to try their spinach with chickpeas – sounds weird, tastes incredible. You know what really impressed me though? The details. Fresh flowers in the common areas, local art on the walls, and they actually stock local products in the welcome amenities instead of generic hotel stuff. Plus, and this matters more than you’d think, the WiFi actually works throughout the building, even in the corners where old buildings usually have dead zones.

Juan from Spain – 10 June 2025 (9/10)
